opening post

I, like many people have decided to blog about my experiences changing over to an open source way of life......

starting with my beloved media centre!

I have been using Linux on and off for the last 8 years, but have been using it soley on the desktop for around 3 years now thanks mainly to Ubuntu.

Whether I can keep this will to be seen, but I will try.

I have been running a media centre of some sort for years, starting with just a pc plugged into the tv with extra large fonts, progressing through MCE 2004,2k5 Vista and seven.

But the lack of driver support and headaches have finally made me look into changing over to a mythbox.

I have to add that a big factor is also my wife and son who have to use it as well, so does not allow for changing that often.

oh well here goes.
